EP woman writes book about sister

PEORIA - An East Peoria woman has written a book in an effort to resurrect memories of a mother lost for her niece and nephew.

"Adelia, Simple Person, Silent Teacher, Polio Survivor" (iUniverse, $23.95 hardcover, $13.95 paperback) by Carol Huff tells the story of her sister, who contracted polio at age 8 in 1950 and died from complications of the disease in 1971. Huff wrote the book out of concern for her sister's children, who were quite young at the time of their mother's death.

Huff will sign copies of her book from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Waldenbooks in Northwoods Mall.

Huff is working on a second book, "Two Brothers Meet Two Sisters," due out in 2008. For more information, visit the Web site www.huffwritings.com.

PEORIA - The Peoria Prairie Tellers Storytelling Guild is sponsoring a six-day tour this fall to the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tenn.

Hardworking Trockadero ballet to start tour

Boasting that "we work the most" of any U.S. ballet company, Chase Johnsey has the world--literally--at his feet. As a proud member of all-male Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, he attracts audiences from school children to grandmothers, royalty to world-class ballerinas. For their efforts, the Trocks were last year honored with a British Critics' Circle Award. But who are the men under the makeup?

During a one week whirlwind press campaign for their 23rd Japan tour, Johnsey and fellow Trock Hiroto Natori found themselves on the 33rd floor of the NTV building. In tight corseted tutus with full make-up, they were dressed as their female personas: Johnsey as Yakatarina Verbosovich, and Natori as Yurika Sakitumi.

Having started off-off-Broadway, the Trocks are now in their third decade.
