| Ballet Wichita presents free 'Prairie Tale'
Every summer for the past 16 years, Ballet Wichita has presented free "Ballet in the Park" performances around Wichita. Those ballets often re-created a well-known fairy tale. This year, the company will present a prairie tale instead. Free outdoor performances of Ballet Wichita's "A Prairie Tale" are set for 7 p.m. today at Old Town Plaza, Second and Mead; 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd.; and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Riggs Park Amphitheater in Haysville. The ballet follows a monarch butterfly as she flits her way across Kansas. It incorporates encounters with many native-Kansas wildlife, including buffalo, sunflowers, a meadowlark, a barred tiger salamander, an ornate box turtle and a channel catfish. The characters will be portrayed by 16 costumed dancers.
So You Think You Can Dance: Meet the top 20!
Tomorrow night, twenty little known dancing prodigies will step to the stage on national television and enthrall millions of viewers. So You Think You Can Dance, now in its third year and one of the most popular summer television shows, begins the performance and results portion of its competition tomorrow night, which will see ten guys and ten girls competing for the next couple months until only one remains. We got to know some of these finalists over the course of the audition episodes, but some we didn't see at all. So ,who are these dancers that we will come to know in the coming weeks, root for and against, and from whom will come the next So You Think You Can Dance champion?
