Seniors featured in NEDT ballet

"Shall We Dance," a series of newly choreographed jazz ballets inspired by the music of Gershwin, will spotlight five senior dancers graduating from the New England Dance Theatre company during two performances at New Canaan High School at 7:30 Saturday, June 16, and 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17. New Canaan's Haley Ballentine, Laura Edwards and Kathryn Hines culminate their pre-professional dance training with this spring performance after a decade of major roles in the "Nutcracker" and various New England Dance Theatre productions. Also featured are Hannah Katz of Redding and Gaby Gilchrist of Pound Ridge, N.Y. In addition to their rigorous ballet training with the New England Academy of Dance, these five young women have attended summer programs including the American Academy of Ballet, Boston Ballet, Walnut Hill, Ballet Regent and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
